Beeswax Stubby Candles. Hand-dipped and Self-Standing

Truly unique hand dipped beeswax stubby candles.

Beeswax stubby candles are hand made using old technique of dipping wick in liquid pool of beeswax.

Each candle is slightly different as beeswax settles and flows down the candle in a different way and rate. The surface will be slightly wrinkled to give the candle a vintage and truly handmade look.

Beeswax candles are made to order in our Hertfordshire apiary. We use only natural beeswax that comes from hives. No synthetic beeswax is used. No colourants, no additives, no chemicals. Just 100% pure and clean beeswax made by bees.

Stubby beeswax candles that come from our apiary are safe for children and pets (but please keep candles away from them for that extra piece of mind). Our candles are non-toxic and eco-friendly. Beeswax is the only sustainable type of wax.

Stubby candles are raw. Colour may vary as this is a natural product. Candles are unscented although there is a subtle natural scent of beeswax. Wick may require trimming and candles kept away from drafts in order to produce good performance free of soot.

Price is per 1 candle. A pair equals 2 candles (uncut wick).

Dimmensions: 7 – 21 cm (h). Burning time approx 2-10hrs + (depends on the chosen size)

Q. Are beeswax stubby candles hand made?

Beeswax stubby candles are hand made. We use old technique whereby each wick is dipped in pool of liquid beeswax so many times the required shape and size is formed. This is very time consuming process but effect is just amazing. Each candle is unique and each candle will offer you something slightly different – shape, size or even a natural scent. Handmade beeswax stubby candles are unique and add that extra luxury touch to any table, candle holder or event. Each candle has a slightly wrinkled surface that makes if truly handmade and unique.

Q. How long do stubs burn?

Large beeswax stubby candles should burn approx 10hrs+. Medium candle – 5hrs and small 2hrs. And please note that size of the flame can be regulated and whenever flame is too big for your personal preference simply trim it to max 5mm.

Q. What colour do I get?

Beeswax is a natural product and as such will vary in colour and its natural scent. We make every effort to show in our pictures the colour of beeswax but with every batch we work on, there will be variations in colour of beeswax. Therefore please use the pictures as a reference only.

Beeswax can come from either brood box (where young bees are being raised) and will be naturally darker, from supers (where honey is being stored and will be medium dark/yellow (probably closest to your perception of “beeswax colour”) or from honey cappings (light yellow). In all truth there is no such thing as “beeswax colour”. And there will always be variations in colour. Whoever offers you identical colour is not working with natural beeswax or simply is bleaching beeswax to obtain desired colour. We believe in only natural candles and as such don’t bleach, add chemicals or interfere with what bees made. Therefore we make only raw beeswax candles.

Q. Are beeswax stubby candles scented?

By default we offer natural beeswax which is unscented. Having said that we must stress that beeswax has its own natural scent. Again, it can be more or less prolific and you may or may not smell it. It is very personal thing depending on level of smell sensitivity. Each type of beeswax will smell differently too. Like with a colour, depends on which part of hive and from what nectar of plant beeswax was produced by bees it has different scent. Acacia will offer very mild and almost scent free nectar. Dandelion on the other hand is very distinctive and self-pronounced flower with strong scent. And this will be transmitted into beeswax scent. Regardless of colour and scent, beeswax offers exactly the same properties and when lit and warm it produces much more scent.

Q. Do I need special candle holder to keep the beeswax stubby candles upright?

No you don’t. Stubs are made wide enough to be self-standing. However, please do not place the lit candles anywhere near high congestion areas in your house. Firstly it’s easy to create that unwanted draft causing flame to flicker. And secondly it’s dangerous. Always keep candles away from children, animals and unnecessary exposure to elements. Make sure your candle is upright at all times and on a safe and sound base. It’s easy for beeswax to spill over. Therefore put something underneath a candle so when beeswax drips it does not contaminate surface of you table/chest of drawers. And never leave burning candle unattended.

Q. Can I customise a candle or add personal card with wishes?

Yes, just let us know what you need and we’ll do the rest.
